一個在黃昏暮色裡徘徊的老年人，並沒有怠惰，仍然在島鄉這塊文學園地不斷地耕耘。即便《老枝伯仔》這部小說是衍生自民國五十三年，警總一份判決書給予作者的創作靈感，也是島鄉小人物的一個縮影。但作者欲詮釋的不僅僅只是它的故事，而是在以軍領政的戒嚴軍管時期，軍方對島民所造成不能彌補的傷害。而想不到多年後的現下，這段不欲人知的事，卻豐饒著作者的創作靈感與故事情節。可是它畢竟不同於史實的呈現，而是一部以爾時為背景的現代小說。
